Kommish Klap
Historical Context
Kommish Klap has now made the postseason 3 times (‘21, ‘23, ‘24) in six years. Across those runs he’s logged two second-place finishes and one third-round exit, giving him a combined playoff record of 5–3. That’s good enough for the second-highest postseason win percentage in league history, putting him in uncomfortable “elite company.” Like the 90s Utah Jazz, this organization can absolutely win when it counts… unless, of course, a title is on the line.
Draft
Picking 9th overall, Kommish assembled a core of Puka Nacua, Ashton Jeanty, and Jalen Hurts. Jeanty hasn’t exactly returned second-round value, but Nacua and Hurts certainly have. Hurts later got stacked with DeVonta Smith, creating an Eagles combo that has worked out pretty well.
And before his injury, Tucker Kraft, a 10th-round pick, was legitimately playing his way into “Best Value of the Draft” territory.
Like it or not, Klappy the Klown sorry, Kommish Klap actually drafted well. Maybe even good.
Best Transaction
While the Kommish hasn’t made a season defining waiver splash, he did swing a potentially playoff-shaping trade that brought in several pieces, including the injured Omarion Hampton, who, at time of writing, appears ready to return for the playoff push.
But that’s all conjecture. Let’s move on to something concrete:
The Week 7 addition of Kyle Monangai has quietly become one of the most impactful moves of his season. Monangai has grown from a spell-back into a full timeshare + red-zone option for the surging Bears. With the modern scarcity of playable fantasy RBs, this move deserves real praise. While he hasn’t been as impactful as he was weeks 7 through 13. He can be thanked for grabbing a few wins for Klappy and Co.
Turning Point
Kommish’s true sliding-doors moment has absolutely nothing to do with football. He nicknamed Jerry Jeudy “Jeudy Klap Ya Booty.”
That’s funny and it deserves more credit than it gets.
Quote
We reached out and said, “We’re collecting quotes from playoff-hopeful teams. Care to provide one?”
Klappy responded: “I’m CLINCHED.”
We believe this to be scatological nonsense, and frankly we find it offensive that he would show so little discretion when speaking to such an esteemed member of the media community. However, after deeper investigation we think Klown was actually reffering to his own physicologically reaction to the likely outcome of a repeat of the 2021 Championship where Klown lost by 84 points and never actual had a chance. While it’s very unlikely that Klown will make it to the finals (at time of writing he is a 16 point dog) we will all see how things play out.
Playoff Outlook
A senior staff writer summarized it best:
“The Klappy’s team is fine—probably one of the worst teams ever to secure a first-round bye in league history. He only made it this far due to a lucky schedule as he ranks 8th in points for and last in points against. But hey, that’s what happens when you only need one win per week.”
